Circle & ConvertKit integration

The client is a membership site who uses Circle for the community and ConvertKit for emails.

The problem

The client wanted to welcome and onboard new Circle members, so that they could get the best of the community. New members start on a free plan, so they also wanted to gently encourage them up upgrade to one of the paid plans.

The solution

Using Zapier, I could add the new Circle members to ConvertKit and tag them as free members.

I then setup a ConvertKit automation that adds them to a sequence of emails to welcome them, and upsell them to the paid tier.

The paid membership is mentioned in key parts of the onboarding emails. If a free member expressed an interest in the paid plan, they are pulled out of the onboarding sequence (after the essential onboarding emails were sent) and added to a specific upsell sequence. That upsell sequence provides more information on the paid plan, answers common objections and lays out the benefits of the paid plan.

If they do upgrade to the paid plan, they are then automatically added to an email sequence to welcome them to the paid tier, so that they get the most out of their membership.
