You can automatically add subscribers to a sequence in ConvertKit by using either a visual automation, or an automation rule. You’d usually use a form submission, or the adding of a tag, as a trigger for the automation. People who submit the form, or have the tag added, would be added to the sequence.
But what happens with existing subscribers who have already submitted the form (or a different form), or already have the tag applied? Visual automations will only work with people who are tagged, or submitted a form, after the visual automation has been setup, not people who have been tagged, or submitted a form, in the past.
So how are you going to add these people to your segment? Fortunately you can add these people with a bulk action. Read on to find out how.
The steps for people who have already been tagged:
- Go to the Subscribers page from the top menu
- Click on the relevant tag in the right hand side
- Click on the checkbox at the top of the table of subscribers
- If there is more than one page of subscribers, click on the link in the blue bar
- Under bulk actions, click on Add to Sequence
- Select the relevant sequence
The steps for people who have already submitted a form:
- Go to the Subscribers page from the top menu
- Click on Create a Segment
- Give the Segment a name
- In the filter, add the relevant form and save
- After saving the segment, click on it from the list of segments to the right of the subscribers
- Click on the checkbox at the top of the table of subscribers
- If there is more than one page of subscribers, click on the link in the blue bar
- Under bulk actions, click on Add to Sequence
- Select the relevant sequence
Wrapping up
While ConvertKit’s visual automations and automation rules only work for subscribers who are tagged or submit a form after the automation is setup, you can still add older subscribers using a bulk operation.
