When you share a ConvertKit landing page on a social media platform like LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter, the platform will attempt to get a photo from the landing page and display it as a thumbnail. If you are using a landing page that has a photo, in most cases it will use that. But if you are using a landing page that doesn’t have a photo, or you want to use a different one, what do you do? Read on, and I’ll share with you how you can supply social media platforms with an image to use for your landing page.
ConvertKit does provide the option to upload a specific image to be used by social media platforms, but it isn’t always obvious where to find it. Here are the steps:
- Go to the landing page in ConvertKit and click somewhere on the landing page to open up the settings on the right hand side
- Click on the bottom icon in the settings to open the SEO & Analytics settings. It looks like this: </>
- In the image field, upload the image you’d like to use to preview in social media platforms
And that’s all there is to it!
You can preview how this will look with the LinkedIn preview tool.
Image variations
Sometimes your landing page will including an image, but it isn’t the one that you want as the preview image on social media. This is especially true if you have a large image and social networks are showing part of the image, but not the part you want. To get around this, you can create a variation of the image. If you use photo editing software, you can crop the image to show the area you want to preview. Once you have cropped it, you can upload the cropped version in the ConvertKit SEO & Analytics tab.
