I often use Raycast on my Mac and genuinely find it to be a beneficial tool. It simplifies many functions like the process of navigating to various applications, performing calculations, managing ‘snippets’, accessing the clipboard, etc. In addition, Raycast offers a selection of extensions that can be integrated with different apps that are used on a Mac, or online. A helpful extension to mention is the one for Airtable, which provides a convenient and hassle-free way to access Airtable bases and tables.

I’ll do a quick walkthrough here to demonstrate how it has helped me to be more efficient.

So, for example, if you visit the Raycast website and click on ‘store’, you can easily search for Airtable. There is only one extension, which you can install to your Raycast.

Once installed, if you open up Raycast and search for ‘Airtable’, it lists a command ‘list bases’. On selecting this, it displays all the Airtable bases that you have and in my case, I currently have 63 bases. During the setup process, you have the option to either restrict the access to one base or to provide access to all bases and my personal preference is to give access to all of the bases.

For the purpose of this demo, let’s select the first option ‘Client Hub’, the base I use to administer all clients and client-related projects, as well as invoicing tasks. On selection, it brings up all the tables under that base and you can either scroll down the list and pick a table, or search for your table. For instance, if I want to view the ‘Calls’ table, where I manage various client calls, I can quickly find this table by typing into the search box. Upon completion, it directs me straight to the respective table in my browser without having to navigate through the Airtable website to locate the base and the table.

For me, I find this approach saves time and enables me to be more efficient and get to my  Airtable bases in a stress-free way. Try it out and see if you also find it to be a quick and smooth process too.
